Major label would like a music video for Australian band to be shot anywhere

Warner Music is commissioning a music video for Australian electronic band SAFIA's next single, Runaway.

Read below or download the attached pdf for all details.

Idea

The video shouldn't be over-thought out in its messaging, I think it should be a celebration of life and the world & universe around us.

In the video's imagery, it could be great to have the visual reflect the landscape of the music. I'm thinking vast forests, oceans, sweeping plains etc. I'm not sure that a narrative or idea set in a man-made environment will feel right for this song.

Following on from that freeing idea, I think this song could suit a music video that accentuates the groove, whether that be through musical editing, dance or both.

Style

As always I'm keen to see how directors interpret the song so by no means should all ideas be limited to my notes above but this is just how I imagine the video would look like.

The artwork (attached below), was done by WA Augmented Reality designer SUTU, and comes with an accompanying AR video. The official music video clip doesn’t need to feature this kind of tech but I feel it’s worthwhile highlighting this as you can be aware of the other visuals around this single.

Location

We don’t require the band to be in the video or to be performing in the video. The priority is the right concept/sentiment is expressed, rather than showcasing the band themselves.

To that end, we are open to where the video is filmed.

About the artist

SAFIA is a Canberra-based 3 piece indie electronic band who have established a solid & dedicated fanbase thanks to years of radio support on Triple J, and thanks also to their extensive touring history playing sold out national tours and featuring at nearly every major festival in Australia.

The band recently released the single “Resolution” and have announced an upcoming album + national tour.

About the song Runaway

From Ben, SAFIA’s singer:

"Runaway is essentially a song about living in the moment & embracing love & compassion, so for that reason, I think the video should feel very freeing."

Lyrics

Oh I hope to be, I hope to be a better man
To be a better man
So I’ll tell you openly there’s things that I
don’t understand

That I don’t understand
Though I know, I know
To tell my heart to just let go
When we look up & wonder how
It feels like bliss, it feels like now

Oh baby let it all flood in
Live a little with a touch of skin
Runaway, runaway, runaway, run run,
runaway

Oh baby let it all flood in
Live a little with a touch of skin
Runaway, runaway, runaway, run run,
runaway

Oh I hope to see, I hope to see the
midnight sun
To see the midnight sun
While I’m loving openly this story
only just begun
It only just begun

Oh baby let it all flood in
Live a little with a touch of skin
Runaway, runaway, runaway, run
run, runaway

Oh baby let it all flood in
Live a little with a touch of skin
Runaway, runaway, runaway, run
run, runaway

la la la la la la
la la la la la iah iah iah iah

Did you ever wanna runaway

la la la la la la
la la la la la iah iah iah iah

Did you ever wanna runaway
(I know my heart let go)

(Look up & down feel love around)

Oh baby let it all flood in
Live a little with a touch of skin
Runaway, runaway, runaway, run
run, runaway

Oh baby let it all flood in
Live a little with a touch of skin
Runaway, runaway, runaway, run
run, runaway

la la la la la la
la la la la la iah iah iah iah

Did you ever wanna runaway

la la la la la la
la la la la la iah iah iah iah

Did you ever wanna runaway
