Alex Zinovieff is an artist manager and recently started Atticus Management. Atticus is an umbrella for managers who share an artist-first, long-term and thoughtful approach to management with an award winning roster of artists, writers and producers.

Our recent chat with Alex discusses his favourite campaigns and talks about the overlaps between visual creativity and music.

I’m currently working on landing a kick flip.

I'M LOVING

Creatively at the moment, I’m loving when someone really commits. I think Phoebe Bridgers is about the coolest person on the planet. I love how Billie Marten has mud on her face and grass in her teeth on her new record sleeve. That’s a good one. Sports Team. Everything they do feels so ‘in their world’.

FAVOURITE VIDEO

My all-time favourite music video is Blink 182's First Date. Very inspiring.

BEST ARTWORK

I’ve always loved the album art for Green Day's Dookie. I used to look at it for hours as a teenager. I think I can remember every scene from memory. It’s like Where’s Wally meets The Beano. Dylan, The Freewheelin’.

RECENT CAMPAIGN

It has been one of the hugest pleasures to work with the band LYR. They’re a band with a real vision, and who are doing something genuinely unique.

BRAND COLLAB

The most recent brand collab that caught my eye was a partnership between an artist and a burger/milkshake shop, which was popular. They came to a show and gave everyone free burgers and shakes. This year we did a collab between George Moir and Heinz Baked Beans.

VIDEO OF THE YEAR

For me the most creative and original music video of the past year is George Moir Baked Beans. George created a whole miniature set by himself and directed, filmed, acted in, dreamt up, styled, conceived and everything. There are some very funny things going on in his head. Also, MarthaGunn just made a video with Jack Lilley where they are all escaping from a cult.

LOGO LOVE

I wish I’d designed the artist logo for Black Flag. Almost more famous than the band. Wu-Tang Clan. Weezer. The Grateful Dead. You know exactly what sort of person wears a t shirt with the blue and red skull on it.

GO FOLLOW

The one artist you should follow on Instagram is Etaoin. Big feelings.

ICONIC

The most iconic music photograph is Elton John in a Dodgers outfit at his piano. Or one of those Paul’s Boutique era Beastie Boys pics. St. Peppers?
