Chris Hunte is the founder of Forbidden Artists; a management company and production label. He is also co-founder of So-Forbidden, a Dance Record Label. Here's our recent chat with Chris to discuss his favourite recent campaigns and talk about the overlaps between visual creativity and music.

I’m currently working on Yas VW, an exciting rising R&B singer-songwriter who has been backed by Radio 1, Billboard.com, The Line of Best Fit plus more, so hopefully people will get to discover how great she is.

CHECK OUT

Creatively at the moment I’m loving Giveon. His unique tone and personal style of writing makes him a once in a generation talent.

FAVOURITE VIDEO

My all-time favourite music video is Michael Jackson Remember The Time. For me, combining the iconic Egyptian era in location and styling, plus the hard-hitting but smooth choreography combination puts this video in any hall of fame.

BEST ARTWORK

I’ve always loved the album art for Jay Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne because everything from the gold to the design represents the two kings of Hip Hop at that moment.

FRESHEST CAMPAIGN

The best creative campaign of the last year was Saweetie and Doja Cat Best Friend. I think the music video is pretty sick which makes it shareable, plus the TikTok challenge to go alongside it.

BEST COLLABORATION

The most recent brand collab that caught my eye was the J Cole X Puma Sneaker collab. I think this is pretty cool as J Cole is known to be pretty serious on the court, so this feels quite authentic for him to roll out a line of Basketball sneakers. Thinking... will he do a Master P and debut into the NBA soon?

VIDEO OF THE YEAR

For me the most creative and original music video recently was Victoria Monet Jaguar. I thought it was cool how they animated her within a jungle type location, mixing in the cool dance scene.

LOGO LOVE

I wish I’d designed the artist logo for RUN DMC. It's so simple but effective and to the point where the brand is so strong thirty years later and has transcended across generations of fans.

GO FOLLOW

The one artist you should follow on Instagram is Yas VW.

ICONIC

The most iconic music photograph is the artwork for Funky Kingston Reggae Dance Floor Grooves 1968-74. I love how this image is so representative of the roots of sound system culture, which has influenced so many genres today, including Grime.
