La SurrealA

La SurrealA is a new short visual from JAMSQ. It takes place in a speak easy cocktail lounge where an abstracted tour leads to various encounters which creates a surrealist dreamscape that follows no linear narrative. This short is made up of constantly shifting frames of different art installations by JAMSQ.

JAMSQ wanted to allow the audience to choose their own narrative, connecting the dots and finding patterns which, encourages the audience to participate rather than observe.

The mediums used are;

Movement- A collaboration with PDK, a collective JAMSQ belongs too.

Paint-A large medium within JAMSQs practice digitally and traditionally.

String, rope and thread-A selective tool used for creating installations when communicating time and the fluidity between interactions.

Over layering visuals and mindscapes- They play an integral role in how JAMSQ communicates ideas, layering them within or over different visuals, experimenting within translating how his mind sees an image, space or frame.

The styling-The short was styled by Kirubel Belay. Its set in a playful neo 70’s bar with an overall feel of having an angulating colour palette throughout the visual, with the use of lights to enrich the outfits.

Lights-They are a new medium for JAMSQ. Right now, the use of lights highlights the swapping or capturing of different moods for JAMSQ, by channelling or distorting the light.

La SurrealA, overall, is a project that underpins everything that JAMSQ currently is right now, combining all his chosen creative processes into one piece of art
