As a Halloween special, artist Billelis opened up an competitive open collaboration. Artists had to use a skull provided by Billelis as a main feature of the design but were free to create anything they pleased in any style.
I decided to create an animated mandala similar to some of the other that Billelis had released. For the main elements of the animation I used procedural tools for an organic and unique flavor. To create the mandalas I built various designs and textures that I animated procedurally before composing them together.
Each ring and each zone has a unique flavor without breaking the cohesion of the design. The final product was a seamless loop that evolves and changes procedurally, each moment bringing something new and exciting.
