Gavin is a midlands-based portrait photographer. He's self taught and specialises in intimate portraits with musicians and models. Gavin is currently based in Northampton which is roughly 1 hour North of London and works on a freelance basis. He's available for any kind of portrait or people-related project. Gavin's regular work includes Dj / artist press shots, corporate headshots and behind-the-scenes stills.
Photography became a big part of Gavin's life just over 10 years ago when I picked his first digital SLR. He'd learnt the basics on an old Pentax film camera his Grandad had given him but it wasn't until Digital SLR's started becoming more affordable that photography played a much bigger part in Gavin's life.
Gavin started off in 2006 shooting within the Drum and Bass scene, a scene that played a big part in his life from the early 90's until today. Jungle / Drum and Bass is a lively, vibrant dance scene with dark sweaty clubs to large festivals and arenas. Gavin fast became a well known face within the Drum and Bass world for capturing the raw, uncompromising underground rave scene. This led to him working with most of the biggest DJ's, MC's and record labels in DnB and being resident photographer for Ram Records and going on the road capturing unseen moments with the biggest DJ of them all, Andy C.
