Description 2

From as early as 15 years of age, I have enjoyed shooting and editing video. I started shooting skateboard videos and editing on windows movie maker until I was able to purchase my first Mac and a copy of final cut express. This opened my eyes to a new way of cutting footage together and from there a passion was born. I began to also film parkour films and eventually moving on to filming and editing video’s for nightclubs and adventure travel companies.

After leaving high school my other passion for theatre was diverted towards Information Technology as a safety net incase my acting dreams were not successful. This changed my ability to understand technology in new ways and has helped me to troubleshoot so many technical problems in the video production world.

When I finished my studies in IT, I went onto pursue a new interest in media studies. This was short lived as I did not feel it lived up to my expectations. I wanted to understand film, how films are made, the business and the craft. Media studies did not teach me this, only theory.

I had dropped out from media studies to focus all my efforts on attending film school in Los Angeles California. A dream I have always held since I was a boy, but for acting. This was for filmmaking. I moved to LA in 2009 where I was exposed to a brand new environment and culture. A culture I fell in love with and still in love with today.

While in Los Angeles I took in a lot of knowledge especially in cinematography, learning to shoot on film (16mm,S16mm and 35mm) lighting scenes and interviews. Recording sound properly, the politics involved in the industry and on set. I was taught by industry professionals on how to direct actors and what makes a great script.

Although film school was hard work and stretched many hours, I enjoyed every minute of the experience. But my crucial learning points were actually working on projects outside of film school. Understanding the discipline involved and the inevitable rookie mistakes that you ultimately learn from. I worked on projects as a gaffer, grip, assistant camera, cinematographer, fight coordinator, director and producer. Even a chair!

I returned to the UK in 2011, settling down in London working on various different projects (mainly music videos) until finally relocating back to my hometown of Leamington Spa to work on my own passion projects and further expand my knowledge in film technique, colour grading, producing and financing.
