Kate Parsons is an educator, video artist and VR creator living in Los Angeles. She obtained her M.F.A. in Media Arts from UCLA in 2015, while also completing a certificate in Digital Humanities. She earned her M.A. in Digital Art and Video in 2013, and also holds a B.F.A. in Fine Art and Graphic Design and a minor in Religious Studies from Montana State University.

Much of Kate's practice involves the marriage of the visual and the aural, working with musicians and dancers to create inventive audio-visual experiences. Her graduate studies involved research into the myriad ways humans mourn and express grief.

Her work has appeared on MOCA.tv, VR Scout, Creative Applications, VICE's The Creators Project, at SFMOMA, The Museum of The Moving Image, Slamdance, SXSW, TIFF, Hammer.org, FringeArts in Philadelphia, and Summer Stage in New York City. She has had the pleasure of working with director Mark Pellington and musicians such as Silversun Pickups, Andrew Bird, Toro Y Moi, Kid606, Daedelus, Ruth B, Dawn Richards, and RYAT.

She is the Director of Femmebit, a video art festival celebrating female artists working in video and new media in Los Angeles. She is also the co-founder of the VR collective FLOAT, and has worked with Within, Sprueth Magers, Kaleidoscope VR, WeVR, Standard Vision, and Amazon Studios.

Kate has most recently worked with Mark Pellington on an audiovisual piece for Aston Martin and Tom Brady, and with Dublab to create visuals for T-Mobile. She will join FLOAT as part of the Toronto Art Fair and Art Basel in Miami.

Her work has been covered by the LA Times, LA Weekly, KCRW, HBO Latin America, CNET, and many others.
