Description 2

Greetings.

I’m Scott Lewis, a designer/art director working under the nom de plume Parts & Labor Studio. I have over 10 years of experience in helping various musical artists, film makers, and organizations build compelling visual identities.

My experience includes creating designs for the many musicians I’ve crossed paths with here in New York City. A musician myself, I meet them at gigs, in the hallway of the warehouse where we rehearse, on the subway when I see them lugging their guitar cases and synth gear. I connect with the passion and creative vision of musicians of all genres.

I am inspired by the long tradition of collaboration between musicians and designers — the classic Pink Floyd covers by Hipgnosis/Storm Thorgeson, Vaughn Oliver’s work for 4AD artists like The Pixies and Cocteau Twins, the iconic Blue Note covers of Reid Miles, the psychedelic posters of the 1960s Bay Area music scene… These designers expanded the music into visual worlds, inseparable from the music.

I look forward to collaborating with you to build new and exciting worlds. You bring the sounds, I’ll create the sights. Reach out to me with any new projects, or even if you just want to talk shop and get some informal feedback over a coffee (in person or virtual).

Cheers,

Scott
