Tommaso Pitta graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree in Modern Literature from the University of Milan and in Theatre Directing from the Paolo Grassi School of Dramatic Arts.

He started his career in theatre, writing and directing award-winning plays for some of Italy’s most prestigious theatres, such as Teatro Stabile di Napoli, Teatro Stabile delle Marche and Teatro Elfo Puccini of Milan.

In 2012 he moved to the UK and studied film directing at the National Film and Television School.

His short films have played at more than 100 international film festivals and won many prestigious awards, including: the Royal Television Society Award for Best Postgraduate Drama, the Premier Award at the British Universities Film & Video Council Awards, the Audience Award at Aspen Shortsfest, Best Comedy at Aesthetica Short Film Festival, the Special Award of the Jury at Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival and Best Director at Rhode Island International Film Festival.

Tommaso works between Italy and the UK in theatre, films and commercials. He is an Alumnus of the Berlinale Talents Campus and a member of the Italian Director Guild. In the UK he is represented as a writer-director by Matthew Bates at Sayle Screen.
