Music video for Jay Prince by Patrick Wilcox

When Jay played me Promises, I felt a melancholy undertone in the track, even though it's superficially a pretty earnest love song. I asked Jay about past heartbreaks, and he told me about a woman who, years ago, betrayed him so deeply that he hasn't fully recovered. It's an experience I can relate to. I interpreted Jay's story through the biblical Fall of Man, which in the West at least, is probably the most fundamental story about heartbreak ever told. The video was selected by Vevo as UK Track of The Week and featured on the show DSCVR.
