The story centres on a man running through his memories of "change and disappointment" that pair "existential angst with the stubborn perseverance of a young man tussling with life's obstacles." As the song reaches its climax, the protagonist sees his future self through a window, sitting lonely and confused. "He want's to let people into his realm," the band explains, "but is not capable of digesting his own limitations."
