Tim Burgess - White

Having befriended Tim Burgess (The Charlatans) at a Factory Floor show at the ICA in London he invited me to make a video for his forthcoming solo record, he had already shot some footage of him singing one of the songs, and wanted me to edit the video, the only snag was Tim had chnaged his mind about the lead track and he had been lip syncing to a different track, giving me a week to get the video done to meet the deadlines for promo. I set about rediting the footage to as best sync up the body lanuage and lip sync to the new track, and thinking about how to process it to artfully disguise the late chnage of mind.

In a flash of inspiration I remembered the raster scanning video synthesesier called the Rutt Etra, using a sofwtare emulation of the hardware i was able to run the video through and get great results. Tim loved it and reminded him of Twin Peaks David Lynch mixed with Warhol's Factory

We went on to make many videos togeteher and I have toured with The Charlatans extensively too, providing psychedilc visuals for their live shows. White, is still our favoruite though, was a perfect moment of serendipity.
