Description 2

Hannah Saunders is a photographer currently based in Cardiff, Wales. She is a graduate of the Documentary Photography course at the University of South Wales, Newport.

She is currently taking requests for commercial work & commissions.

Her work is often influenced by her interests in history, poetry and women's rights. Her current work 'Karass' attempts to confront taboos surrounding the body and nudity. This work has been exhibited at the Secvente Festival of Photography in both 2014 & 2015 in Ploesti, Romania. Work from Karass was also shown at the West Wharf Gallery, Cardiff in July 2015.

Her work was also included in a group show that focused on the geographical location of Cardiff Bay, each photographer taking diverse methods to communicate the place through pictures. The work exhibited explored the passage of time and reflections on the transformation from an industrial hub to a space catering for modern consumer needs. The work was shown at 102 Bute street and Butetown History & Arts Centre, January 2014.

Work from her project 'And death shall have no dominion' has also been included in the group show 'Made in Wales' by the Welsh Collective 'A Fine Beginning.' The shows were held in both South and North Wales, at Arcade Cardiff in March 2014 and also at Oriel Colwyn in September 2014.

Her series of photomontages 'A Hyena in a petticoat' was shown over October 2015 at The Sherman Theatre, Cardiff. The exhibition was a part of the Made in Roath festival, in conjunction with Fotofringe. Alongside the show she carried out workshops about her work and photomontage.

Hannah also sings in Cardiff based post punk band 'Artefact'. The demo was released in February 2015 and they have secured funding from HORIZONS/BBC CYMRU/ARTS COUNCIL OF WALES to record their debut album in the new year.

Alongside photography and music Hannah is a keen writer and is now contributing to the Welsh magazine BUZZ writing about music.
