Michael McCool, cut his teeth working for Chris Cunningham and Jonas Åkerlund at Ridley Scott Associates. He was soon commissioned by James Jagger to direct the video for his punk outfit Turbogeist’s debut EP. Eventually, Michael went freelance to work on music video and short-form documentaries for various record companies, becoming known for his eye-catching, high- energy films.

His successes include winning a global competition run by Universal Music for directors to reimagine a music video for the 25th anniversary of Underworld’s cult hit “Born Slippy”, which featured in the soundtrack to Trainspotting. McCool’s winning effort has gone on to garner over four million YouTube views. For the past year McCool has been making his first feature film, a documentary commissioned by Mr. Porter about legendary costume designer Arianne Phillips.
