This animation defines geothermal energy, explains how this energy is used to create electricity and identifies which islands of the Eastern Caribbean are exploring this energy source.

Understanding Geothermal Energy in the Caribbean is one of a four part series.

During the series’ production in late 2020 the La Soufrière volcano in St Vincent and the Grenadines erupted. This prompted North Eleven to fasttrack animation development. The videos were then release in order of information priority to those most affected.

Effusive eruptions began at La Soufrière on 27 December 2020. On 9 April 2021 there was an explosive eruption, explosive eruptions continued for several days with pyroclastic flows. The island is still on alert at the time of this upload in September 2021.
