The video visualises the song’s lyrics in English Creole of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) incorporating iconography from Yoruba and T&T Carnival with complimentary movements and effects.

Words from the band Freetown Collective:

“We Bad” represents the dark balance of the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival energies. As there is the colorful, flamboyant and jubilant energy to the Mas, there is the energy of the protectors lying in wait in the shadows – the spirit of the Midnight Robber, the Jab all in the ritual of the J’ouvert.

“We bad” reassures that this energy is not to be feared but respected as the “Watchers and Protectors” of the culture with a presence that is both intense and liberating – the Yoruba chant carries the sharpened edge of song “Ago Agolona”, translated: “Clear the way/Clear a path” or as is said in Trinidad and Tobago, “clear d road!”
